Drain Jetting

What is Drain Jetting?

Drain Jetting involves the use of a Jetting van or Jetvac Wagon where a hose is used forcing out high pressure water which will then break down or dislodge a blockage allowing the line to flow freely again.

When would Drain Jetting be used?

Drain Jetting is the most effective way of cleaning and clearing a line. It involves a hose forcing out high pressure water which breaks up or dislodges anything that is causing the blockage allowing the line to flow freely again. Build-ups of hair, grease, food and other disposables are the main culprits for blocked drains and with water jetting being such a powerful force, it's ideal to break through any blockages. Blocked drains are a legitimate concern for most householders and businesses alike. The Drain Jetting method is used on residential/commercial and even industrial properties.

Advice on Maintaining Your Drains

  • Water needs to flow properly through your pipes or you are risking them becoming blocked. We recomend you keep your drains as free as possible from debris. This includes not pouring substances like cooking fat, grease and small bits of food down the sink as they can easily get stuck in the pipes and cause blockages. Make sure small items such as food, dental floss and hair all go in a bin and pour cooking fat or grease into a bottle or container.
  • Once a week, pour hot water down your sink to help clear any grease/fat build ups (make sure the water is 140 degrees or less - hot water from the sink is recomended as this won't distort the tubular drains and their seals under the fixture)
  • You can also use baking soda and vinegar to help clear a blocked drain; mix 1/3 of a cup of baking soda with 1/3 of a cup of vinegar, when you hear a fizzing sound, pour this down the drain immediatley and flush with hot water. Try to do this 2 or 3 times a year.
  • Don't forget to check your gutters outside especially in Winter and remove any leaves or twigs that are stuck in the gullies.
